Local Arts and Educational Programs
Since its start in 1977, the Foundation has received applications from a wide variety of arts and educational organizations principally in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area and in the State of Maine. Grantees over the years have included performing arts groups, literary programs, educational and environmental groups, and social service organizations. Growing emphasis now is on assisting arts and educational organizations.
Open Application Process
This program area – among the Foundation’s five program areas – is distinct inasmuch as it is the only one that receives unsolicited proposals. The remaining four areas – Osher Scholars and Fellows Program, Osher Reentry Scholarship Program, Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes Program, and Osher Integrative Medicine Programs – do not have an “open application” process but rather issue Requests for Proposals (RFP) to which interested applicants may respond.
